Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and proceed to the Chilaw area to pay homage at Munneswaram Ancient Shiva Temple and Manavari Rama Temple—believed to be among the first lingams consecrated by Lord Rama—with an optional stop at the replica Murugan Temple in Madampe before a restful night on the Negombo/Chilaw coast.
Drive to Anuradhapura. Begin your exploration of the UNESCO Sacred City. Focus on the most important religious sites like the venerated Sri Maha Bodhi Tree and the colossal Ruwanweliseya Dagoba. Check in and enjoy the evening.
Spend a full day exploring the remaining ancient sites of Anuradhapura. Visit other key sites like Jetavanaramaya, Abhayagiriya Stupa, Isurumuniya Vihara, and the Twin Ponds (Kuttam Pokuna). In the late afternoon, visit Mihintale, the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, for sunset views and reflection. Night in Anuradhapura.
Drive west to Mannar. Visit Thiru Ketheeswaram Ancient Sivan Kovil (a Paadal Petra Sthalam). Head to Talaimannar for sunset views towards Ram Setu (Adam’s Bridge). Night in Mannar.
Travel north onto the Jaffna Peninsula. The journey itself is scenic (approx. 2-3 hours). Upon arrival, check-in and take a short city orientation. Enjoy time at leisure to sample local Jaffna cuisine and culture. Night in Jaffna.
Take the local boat to Nainativu Island. Visit Nagapooshani Amman Temple and the nearby Nagadeepa Viharaya. Return to Jaffna with time to explore the city’s markets or the seafront before dinner. Night in Jaffna.
Morning at Keerimalai to visit the Naguleswaram Siva Temple and the mineral-rich springs. Dedicate the rest of the day to Jaffna’s rich heritage sites, such as the Jaffna Fort, the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, or the Jaffna Public Library. Night in Jaffna.
Journey along the eastern flank to Trincomalee. This is a long but rewarding drive. Check in and relax on the bay. Night in Trincomalee.
Dedicate the morning to a leisurely activity like relaxing on Nilaveli/Uppuveli Beach or taking an optional boat trip to Pigeon Island Marine National Park for snorkeling. In the afternoon, visit the clifftop Koneswaram Temple and Swami Rock viewpoint for panoramic ocean views. Final night by the sea in Trincomalee.
Depart Trincomalee after breakfast and transfer back towards Colombo or directly to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), concluding your Ramayana Yatra.
